- Ground Segment Engineering
Job description
Hydrosat is a space and data analytics company building a new Earth Observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver high spatio-temporal resolution thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights that benefit the environment, enhance food and water security, and serve other critical applications. Our ground segment engineering team combines best-in-class remote sensing, software engineering and large scale cloud computing to take data from our in-house satellites to deliver novel data products.
We are looking for bright, creative, and ambitious people who can work in a dynamic and collaborative start-up environment. Hydrosat is determined to change the way people use space imagery and revolutionize agriculture. Join us on this mission and help transform the world.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will design and maintain systems that support tooling for both internal users and external customers of Hydrosat’s data products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including cloud engineers, space systems engineers, and software engineers to build reliable, scalable systems.
Responsibilities
Architect and develop scalable, distributed backend systems that support mission-critical internal tools and customer-facing applications
Own projects end-to-end: from design and prototyping through deployment, monitoring, and iteration
Collaborate cross-functionally with cloud, space systems, and data engineering teams to integrate satellite and ground data pipelines into robust products
Mentor and guide engineers by sharing best practices and fostering a culture of technical excellence
Contribute to quality by conducting code reviews, writing tests, and improving engineering processes
Leverage modern technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, Python, AWS, Docker, and OpenSearch to deliver performant and maintainable systems
