Job description

Hydrosat is seeking a seasoned HR professional who will oversee all operational functions of the HR department. The ideal candidate will be hands on with the experience to develop and implement HR policy and build an HR team in a fast-paced global startup environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing all core HR functions, including employee onboarding/offboarding, compensation and benefits, and employee performance management and retention. The Director of HR will build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and staff and provide guidance on employee matters. 

This position is located in the U.S. and will directly implement and/or manage the HR operations across the U.S. as well as certain global HR systems and matters. This position reports to the Chief of Corporate Operations. 

Job requirements

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and mission; Provide guidance to senior management on HR-related issues and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company; Manage and develop the HR team, building a team to support Hydrosat’s growth;  

  • Compliance and Policy Development: Develop, codify, and administer HR policies and procedures that align with the firm’s culture and objectives, ensuring all HR matters comply with country, state and local laws and regulations  

  • Performance Management: Implement and manage performance appraisal systems, providing guidance to managers on performance feedback and improvement plans; Review, analyze, and update compensation and performance evaluation programs 

  • Training and Development: Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge 

  • Benefits Administration: Oversee the administration of all employee benefit programs, ensuring compliance with government regulations 

  • HR Information System: Leverage the firm’s HR platform to create streamlined and efficient HR processes 

  • Recruiting and Retention: Collaborate with Hydrosat’s recruiting team and support the firm’s recruiting initiatives to attract and retain top talent 

  • Employee Relations: Serve as lead US HR Business Partner; Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture; Address employee relations issues promptly and effectively, promoting open communication and conflict resolution; Manage all employee relations matters and serve as a consultant to leadership as needed 

  • Initial Coordinating Support: Initial coordinating support for certain team-wide requirements, office infrastructure needs, or interoffice team-building events and other large initiatives to support culture, training, communication, and efficiency 

Required Qualifications, Skills, And Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred 

  • SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent certification is highly desirable 

  • 10 years of experience in Human Resources working with a global and remote workforce 

  • Experience with start-up/growth phase HR dynamics 

  • Proven experience in HR leadership roles 

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational objectives 

  • Experience overseeing administration of HRIS systems 

  • Strong command of HR metrics, analytics, and reporting tools 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities 

  • Polished people person; stellar interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Trustworthy, always demonstrating sound judgement  

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities seamlessly 

  • Certain travel requirements may apply domestically as well as internationally.
