Job description
We are seeking an experienced software engineering manager to support the development of new tools to create science-quality surface reflectance and land surface temperature analysis-ready data from Hydrosat’s Earth observation constellation. This role will appeal to candidates that are looking to use their leadership and software engineering skills to make an impact on the world in agriculture, climate, and public safety applications. The right candidate will be endlessly excited about supporting a team of world class software engineers and data scientists working in the domains of imaging science, computer vision, geospatial APIs, and large-scale data processing.
What you’ll do:
Manage development project goals, contribute to product strategy, and develop a team of high impact software engineers
Establish and maintain an effective process for developing production quality software
Support a team of software engineers and data scientists, including resource planning, hiring, professional development, and mentorship
Lead technical projects by example, providing suggested approaches, code contributions, and code reviews
Work closely with program and product management to ensure objectives, priorities, and acceptance criteria are well understood
Balance new feature development requests with addressing technical debt and stability
Constantly optimize the happiness and productivity of a remote team through clear communication and feedback
Job requirements
US Citizen or Permanent Resident
10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role
Experience in Earth observation, geospatial, imaging science, or computer vision fields
Experience working with large raster or image data sets
Experience working with cloud infrastructure and security
Demonstrable experience growing and mentoring teams
Strong first principles thinking and decision making
Strong team player with demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive execution
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced degree in physics, math, or computer science
Experience architecting and developing new services
