Job description

Hydrosat is a space and data analytics company building a new Earth Observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver high spatio-temporal resolution thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights that benefit the environment, enhance food and water security, and serve other critical applications. Our ground segment engineering team combines best-in-class remote sensing, software engineering and large scale cloud computing to take data from our in-house satellites to deliver novel data products.

We are looking for bright, creative, and ambitious people who can work in a dynamic and collaborative start-up environment. Hydrosat is determined to change the way people use space imagery and revolutionize agriculture. Join us on this mission and help transform the world.

As a Software Engineer, Front End, you will design and maintain systems that power tooling for both Hydrosat’s external customers and internal users of our data products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams - including product managers, scientists, space systems engineers, and software developers - to build beautiful and highly functional applications. Your work will include building our first customer-facing application for allowing end-users to visualize and access data, creating interfaces to support satellite operations, and supporting other internal services for image processing and science.

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly functional, interactive user interfaces for customer-facing applications and mission-critical internal tools.

  • Own projects end-to-end: from design and prototyping through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, space systems, and data pipeline teams to integrate satellite and ground data pipelines into robust products.

  • Contribute to quality by conducting code reviews, writing tests, and improving engineering processes.

  • Mentor and guide engineers by sharing best practices and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Job requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building modern web applications.

  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript.

  • Experience with modern CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind CSS) and component libraries.

  • Familiarity with state management and data fetching (e.g., TanStack Query or similar).

  • Experience consuming and contributing to RESTful APIs

  • Understanding of performance optimization for SPAs.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with geospatial visualization (Mapbox or similar).

  • Familiarity with schema validation (e.g., Zod).

  • Knowledge of modern build tools (e.g., Vite).

  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).

  • Passion for Earth observation, geospatial data, or environmental applications.

What Makes you Stand Out:

  • You take ownership of features from concept to production.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoy learning new tools.

  • You are curious about geospatial data and excited to make it accessible to users worldwide.

Benefits

  • Employee options

  • Health insurance: Medical, Vision, Dental

  • Flexible time off

  • Maternity, Paternity & Parental Leave

  • 401K Matching
